The (Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, 1048 - Valencia, 10 July 1099), known as El Cid Kampeador was Castilian nobleman, soldier and politician. He served as Generalissimo (alférez) the Castilian army under Sancho II of Castile, while exiled by his brother and successor of the latter Alfonso VI. The exile was made triggered the fictionalized life and work demonstrated since then, culminating in the conquest of the rich city of Valencia.
